Two days in Salinas…

For Labor Day weekend this year, my mom and I decided to head down to Salinas to see my Grandma Gillott. I took Friday off and my mom was able to get a day off from her job as well.

Although the trip got off to a bit of a rocky start, once we got down to Salinas, we had a very nice time chatting with my Grandma and relaxing at her beautiful house. My favorite part about the trip was that I got to bring Sierra and she and I got to be best buddies for two days. Without Lotus, Sierra actually played catch with me and was able to do a lot of the fun stuff we did before having a second dog. We can’t do this with Lotus because it’s a very dangerous situation to start both dogs playing with me because then they start to get jealous and normally end up getting in a fight. =(

Well although I’m sure Sierra missed Lotus, we made the most of our time without her. Here are some pictures of Sierra and me playing in Grandma Gillott’s backyard. =)

After playing in the backyard we decided to take a walk. My mom and I had taken Sierra on a walk Friday but I didn’t take my camera. Saturday morning we decided to take a different path and walked along Highway 68 which is absolutely beautiful in the spring when purple lupin covers the hills but there is also a lot to see in the summer and fall. Here are some pictures from that trip.

Finally, back at the house, I took some pictures of the crafts Grandma has made and even was able to get a picture with Uncle Tim. =)

All in all it was a great trip. It’s always nice to see my Grandma and it was fun to go down with my mom. Looking forward to my next trip down there and as always, I’m grateful to have such a great family to spend time with. =)
